What are Extended Services?

An extended school works with the local authority and other partners to offer a range of services and activities which support and motivate children and young people to achieve their full potential. These services and activities include:

A varied menu of activities combined with childcare in primary schools such as after school clubs and holiday clubs.

Community access to school facilities
Parenting support to enable and encourage parents to be involved in their children's education.
Ensuring that targeted and specialist services are easy to access.

What is happening in the Penrith Town Cluster?

There are numerous examples of schools working together across the cluster to provide the best opportunities for pupils. These include sharing IT services, activities to ease transition from primary to secondary school, strategies to support parental involvement, arts and sports initiatives.

This website shows some of the extended services and activities that are already provided through the Penrith Town Cluster. We have compiled a directory of useful contacts such as activity providers and sources of advice which will be helpful for parents, carers, children and young people.
